The Fat Salmon has six dormitories that comprise 36 beds in total. There are 2 quads, 2 rooms of 6 beds and 2 rooms of 8 beds. Linens are provided, but bring a towel, if you need one. There are 4 bathrooms and 2 comfy lounges to chill in. There is a spacious communal kitchen complete with oven, stove, fridge and microwave oven. We offer free coffee, hot chocolate & tea, fresh garden herbs when in season from our front deck, a big BBQ (and BBQ party nights every other Friday in the summertime), international movies every night, an information kiosk on-site & brilliant travel advice, high speed wireless internet, board games aplenty, take-a-book leave-a-book library, a view of the working harbour, bus stop shuttle when available, free storage for little things (cameras, wallets, passports, laptops) & minimally-charged storage for bigger things (kayaks, bikes, canoes, packs), parking in the back of the hostel & in front, amazing music, Lily The Wonderdog & brilliant hosts. We offer decent group discounts.
Bed type: Quad beds: 2 Rates: Quads: $20.00/bed/night Directions: Travelling north-west on Highway 4 from Nanaimo, we are the last town before Ucluelet and Tofino. Just after the Coombs Candy Store on Highway 4, turn left at the Alberni Valley Information Centre, onto the Port Alberni Highway (which changes names to Redford Street along the way). At the bottom of Redford, turn left onto 3rd Avenue (which is also called "Gertrude Street" and "Stamp Avenue" - all the same road, though!). We are atop the wee hill on 3rd Avenue, two blocks before the corner of Argyle Street, in the heart of "South Port", Port Alberni, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Look for the bright yellow house...come and see us! |
